Anticipated Duration: 1 year with optional up to 52-week extension

Project Location: Covid-19 protocol; Toronto, Ontario. The contracted resource will be required to work remotely due to the Covid-19 situation but, we may require the resource to work on premises in the future if the pandemic situation changes for better. The resource will be provided with a laptop and will be given remote access.

Project Description

On behalf of sponsors, Millennium is searching for a Business Analyst with the capability to focus on and support Business Intelligence/Analytics, Data Governance and related implementations.

Description of Duties / Scope of Work

  • Documenting current state processes including inefficiencies metrics (cost, time, etc.); process benchmarking when appropriate
  • Assessing current state of the business, identifying and documenting process gaps and making recommendations on future state improvements
  • Working with business and technical stakeholders to create business glossaries, data catalogues or data dictionaries
  • Analyzing existing data management policies and recommend changes
  • Creating change management artifacts such as stakeholder analysis, engagement plan and training material for a large number of stakeholders
  • Working with SMEs and conducting requirements gathering / elicitation; performing business analysis to identify business solution
  • Experience defining wire-frames, dashboards, reports as well as self-serve requirements for business analytics deliverables
  • Producing documentation including business/functional and non-functional requirements and specifications, end-to-end business scenarios, user stories and tracking information within the MR4TFS application and SharePoint, as applicable
  • Working with IT architects, technical leads and quality assurance analysts to evaluate vendor solutions that include hardware/software deliverable, configuration management, documentation, change management and implementation plans
  • Working with others, i.e. other relevant Business Analysts and Solution Architects, for opportunity assessments, business cases, preparing requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations, as necessary
  • Organizing and/or providing training on the use of deliverables, along with the development of training materials
  • Creating and delivering formal presentations to senior management, alongside necessary project documentation for project stakeholders; developing meeting objectives and agendas and taking meeting minutes as required
  • Providing updates regarding overall BA activities progress, reported business issues, defects, and the progress of resolutions
  • Other initiative/project duties as assigned

Mandatory Skills / Certification

  • University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering or related, relevant discipline
  • 10+ years business consulting experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a BI, business and/or process analyst
  • Demonstrable experience with, and completion of, Business Intelligence and Analytics projects, including Data Governance and Change Management
  • Strong familiarity and understanding of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) analysis and performance measurement including dashboards
  • Major IT implementation experience and understanding how systems are affected by business process change
  • Experience in dealing with complex business problems, identifying business/functional user requirements and recommending how to best support them through processes and applications

Other Skills / Certification

  • Expert knowledge of MS Office tools (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Experience in process analysis, modelling and future-state design in a complex and agile-driven environment
  • Ability to have influence without authority, and a strong ability to sell recommendations and solutions by stating advantages and value in business terms
  • High level written and verbal communications skills, and ability to manage and influence stakeholders
  • PBA / CBAP and/or relevant certifications an asset
  • Public Service experience an asset
