Anticipated Duration: 1 year

Duration of Potential Extension: 12 Months and 6 Months

Project Location: Toronto, Ontario

Hourly Rate: must not exceed $80 CAD.

Description of Assignment

The Database Analyst will analyze business transformation requirements; analyze business processes and legacy systems; design, implement, and maintain database systems; perform data modelling, data integration and synchronization; and monitor and resolve data or database issues. The specialist will identify and recommend opportunities for better utilization of technologies to improve business process and efficiency, and to improve data governance to better comply with corporate privacy and security rules.

The specialist will require extensive experience with data modelling and database systems, Oracle database administration, NoSQL and big data techniques, Cloud platform and security, data integration and synchronization.

The key credentials of the specialist include:

  • Experience in data modelling and database design
  • Experience in RDBMS such as Oracle 12c and SQL Server 2014+
  • Experience in data integration and synchronization
  • Familiarity with temporal data management, big data, NoSQL, Cloud Computing databases


  • 10 years of experience in information management with a focus on design and modelling of database systems, database administration, and data integration and synchronization
  • 3 years of experience in designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models (CDM/LDM/PDM)
  • 5 years of experience as a professional Oracle DBA with a deep understanding of data storage, encryption, partitioning, replication, backup, recovery, system monitoring and logging, performance tuning, and RAC
  • 3 years of experience designing and developing data integration solutions using package software such as Informatica, Oracle Streams or GoldenGate
  • Deep understanding of different types of Oracle database objects including tables / views /materialized views, indexes, partitioning, keys, stored functions / procedures and packages
  • Experience in data conversion, data cleansing, data masking, de-identification and encryption methodologies
  • Experience with data privacy and security management, database performance design best practises
  • Experience in modern software development methodologies and processes such as Agile, CI/CD and DevOps

Assignment Duties

  • Identify and analyze business strategies, processes and practices in the context of evolving business, information, security, application, and technology architecture
  • Perform requirements and system analysis, including analysis of legacy systems
  • Design and implement database solutions to meet architecture quality attributes for availability, capacity, performance, scalability, and security
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for relational and non-relational databases
  • Ensure database solutions meet data security and compliance requirements
  • Provides technical database administration services for multi-database environment both on-premise and in the cloud
  • Create technical system documentation including data models, systems designs and operational support documents.
  • Work with developers for platform selections, database design, SQL programming, and technical guidance
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure data or database issues are addressed in a timely manner to minimize disruption
  • Design and implement data purge / archive policy and procedure
