Role Description: Subject Matter Expert/MS SQL DBA

SME/MS SQL DBA is required to upgrade database infrastructure. You will apply best industry practices, knowledge and skills to execute this project and be involved in various activities from assessing the current environment, requirements gathering, planning, writing a design document, prototype implementation, application testing and optimization, implementation and roll out, developing documentation and transfer knowledge to staff.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide planning, design and implementation support and project management service for this imitative. However, you will occasionally be involved and provide operational support as a backfill resource, when deemed necessary.

Duties:

You are the subject matter expert and coordinator working in collaboration with team leads providing technical guidance, overall strategy, planning, design, implementation, testing, support and optimization of the Microsoft SQL database environments hosting Citrix production and non-production environment, applications and tools. The candidate will execute the following:

1. Gather, analyze, and evaluate business requirements and constraints, evaluate existing conditions, develop technical requirements, develop design document and drawings, develop implementation plan and configuration sets, develop verification/testing plan, create/update as-built architectural drawings.
2. Provide recommendations regarding the improvements to operations, project planning, and project implementation.
3. Perform architectural planning and design, as well as configuration and integration support within project delivery and ongoing consultative engagements.
4. Lead design, performance engineering or problem resolution during project life cycle.
5. Plan and work as a technical lead for the project, ensuring their timely and successful completion.
6. Authors Design Document and maintains documentation for all project life cycle including but not limited to standards, processes, project management, drawings to ensure high quality service and support on an ongoing basis.
7. Perform ongoing and proactive assessments of the database environment.
8. Perform implementation and testing of Disaster Recovery plans for database environment.
9. Assist in configuration activities including test planning and cutover activities.
10. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

1. Must have a University/Community College degree in Computer Science or equivalent years of experience.
2. MCSA SQL Server Database Administrator certification or equivalent would be an asset.
3. Minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server architecture design, configuration, implementation, testing, support and optimization in a large scale enterprise environment including SQL cluster in high availability environment using standard licensing model.
4. Demonstrated experience implementing at least three (3) large scale Microsoft SQL projects in last 5 years.
5. Demonstrated experience in configuring, implementing, testing and supporting optimizing Microsoft SQL environments.
6. Minimum of 7 year demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows Server Operating System/Terminal Services and in particular, recent experience with Windows configuration, implementation, performance tuning, support and preventive maintenance.
7. Demonstrated experience in developing proposals, creating architecture documentation, drawings and other relevant documentation as required.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to lead meetings and present complex information to staff and management team of multiple skill levels. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently or with team members with little supervision.
9. Strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills as well as superior organizational qualities in order to meet tight deadlines as well as coordinate, prioritize and communicate project status to stakeholders.

Technical Capabilities:

1. Solid understanding of MS-SQL, Entity framework, LINQ (SQL commands, triggers and stored procedures)
2. Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) in MS-SQL commands, stored procedures and triggers
3. Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) with SQL administration and development, report optimization techniques, SQL queries and stored procedures.
4. Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) in allocating virtual resources and configuration needed in MS-SQL installation.
5. Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) managing MS-SQL database security.
6. Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) using PowerShell scripting or other scripting language to automate processes during deployment, operations and maintenance.
7. Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) designing and implementing high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions for MS-SQL, including Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering.
8. Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) integrating with third party backup solutions for VSS-aware backups of MS-SQL.
